A integração dos profissionais do ensino em redes de docentes e de escolas tem sido uma abordagem utilizada recentemente para se procurar combater o isolamento profissional nas organizações educativas e o empobrecimento inteletual e prático daí resultante. Estas redes estão a transformar-se numa importante componente das estratégias de reforma educativa, em diversos países. Contudo, não obstante as fortes promessas deste tipo de iniciativas, não é conhecida ainda bastante investigação sistemática sobre tal modalidade de ação educativa, sobre o modo como funciona no mundo da educação e sobre o que fazer para se conseguir que o seu potencial se concretize nas escolas e nas comunidades. No presente texto, debate-se o conceito de rede em educação, sistematizam-se os principais traços definidores das redes no campo educativo, reflecte-se sobre os efeitos destas redes e discutem-se alguns problemas e tensões inerentes ao seu funcionamento. O artigo inclui um conjunto de recomendações relativas à análise, gestão e desenvolvimento das redes na educação.
ABSTRACT: A recent approach to combat professional isolation within teaching, and the resulting intellectual and practical impoverishment, includes the integration of teachers into educator and school networks. These networks are becoming an important component of education reform strategies in different countries. However, despite the increased adoption of such initiatives, there is little systematic research on this type of educational activity, the way it works within the world of education and the necessary steps so that this potential can be realized in schools and communities. This paper discusses the concept of networks in education, describes the main defining features of networks in the educational field, reflects on the effects of networks and discusses the problems and tensions inherent in their operation. The article includes a set of recommendations concerning the analysis, management and development of networks in education.
