Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT: This paper aims at presenting a contribution on the use of ideal type as a methodological strategy, based on a case study that focuses on the organisational culture in an interpretative diachronic perspective. The research problem consists of the dynamics present in the (re)configurations of organisational culture of a shelter collective unit for unprotected children and young girls. Document collection was carried out, with subsequent selection and analysis of information deemed relevant. The application of this methodological tool allowed recreating five types of organisational culture over time: 1. Assistance culture (1858-1910); 2. Culture of assistance plasticity (1910-1930); 3. Shared parallel culture (1930-1969); 4. Triangulated culture (1969-1993); 5. Regulatory culture (1993-2008), through a process that we seek to report with the purpose of contributing to the discussion of the advantages, but also the limitations, difficulties and challenges to the application of this methodological tool. In conclusion, there is the need to select some specific dimensions of organisational culture, taking care to neither over-simplify reality, nor bring complexity to it, to the point that this concept becomes unintelligible. That is what we have sought to do, with the mobilisation of the ideal type methodological strategy.
