Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT: The main purpose of this Report is to present, analyze and reflect on the pedagogical practices developed within the curricular units of Pedagogical Internship I and II, in the context of the Masters in Pre-School and Elementary Education, taught at the University of the Azores. In addition to presenting all our educational plan, we wanted to expand on a theme that we consider to be very relevant and that has been minimally explored and addressed in papers of this nature and that, to us, is fundamental to understanding the role of the Kindergarten and Elementary Educator that contributes to the development of the child. In our work, "From the School Stage to the Stage of life: Dramatic Expression in the context of the internship in Pre-School and Elementary Education", our main purpose is to explore and understand the role and the place of Dramatic Expression in daily pedagogical practice, considering its importance in the child's process of expression and communication, in the knowledge of themselves, their relationship with others and with the world around them. To enrich and enhance our experiences, we also present an empirical study, that was developed in parallel with our internships, in which we seek to understand the perceptions and opinions of Kindergarten and Elementary Teachers on the subject under analysis. To carry out this study, we administered a questionnaire to a sample of 250 teachers, almost all of them working in the Autonomous Region of the Azores. We conclude that Dramatic Expression is a very rich curriculum area, whose exploration potential must accompany the child's entire life course, from birth to adulthood, although teachers acknowledge that they do not always give it the attention it deserves. This scenario is more evident in Elementary Education, where constraints such as the lack of time and resources, the difficulties of disinhibition on the part of children or the lack of specific training in this area are pointed out. Such constraints were aggravated by the Pandemic that took place during our internship which led to distance learning, an experience we also reflected on. Distance learning is not feasible to the development of relationships essential to the area of expression.
