A Psicoeducação Ć© uma abordagem educativa, que tem vindo a ganhar relevo pelo impacto positivo que exerce no processo de recuperação de determinadas doenƧas. A Psicoeducação visa ajudar os doentes e/ou seus familiares a aprender os principais aspetos sobre uma doenƧa; esclarecer dĆŗvidas e desmistificar crenƧas sobre a psicopatologia; adquirir ferramentas adequadas para lidar diariamente com as articularidades do problema de saĆŗde; minimizar o stress familiar provocado pela doenƧa; prestar apoio social, bem como, promover o envolvimento ativo do doente e da famĆlia nos cuidados de saĆŗde. Esta Ć© uma abordagem baseada em mĆ©todos experimentais e cientĆficos, e caracteriza-se por ser estruturada, diretiva, limitada no tempo, focada no presente e no desenvolvimento de capacidades que permitam uma melhor gestĆ£o da doenƧa. ABSTRACT: Psychoeducation is an educational approach that has gained relevance due to the positive impact on the recovery process of certain illnesses. This approach helps patients and their relatives to learn the main features of a disease, to clarify doubts and demystify the beliefs about psychopathology, to acquire adequate tools to cope daily with problems related to their specific illness, minimize family stress caused by the illness, and to provide social support and the active engagement of patients and relatives in health care. Based on experimental and scientific methods, psychoeducation is characterized for being structured, directive, limited in time, present-focused, and focused on the development of management skills to better cope with the illness.
