Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT: The present Internship Report comes within the framework of the work developed in the curricular units of Teacher Training I and Teacher Training II, integrated in the Master in Preschool Education and Teaching of the 1st Cycle of Elementary Education, the University of the Azores. This document shall give account of all the work done in the context of the two training programs in question, the first held in Pre-School Education and the second in the 1st Cycle of Elementary Education, and will have as main objective the analysis and reflection of all our educational action, in particular the practices that gave emphasis to the theme we decided to deepen in our study. The thematic focused on the approach to the place and the role of images in an educational context, here understood from two perspectives: those that serve as a resource for the pedagogical practice of Educators and Teachers of the 1st Cycle of Elementary Education and those produced by (the) children / students in moments of Plastic Expression, which are a result of their natural form of expression. The need to deepen this theme was based on the one hand, almost non-existent studies related to the image and with their pedagogical potential. On the other hand, and following some studies developed within this curriculum area, we wanted to delve into the reasons given for their poor exploration, giving relevance to drawing, one of most explored content in this domain. In order to fulfill these purposes, we were based on activities developed in our two training program, which are presented in the form of categories, duly substantiated, analysed and reflected, using contributions from authors of the specialty. As a complement, we held 10 interviews, 5 to Childhood Educators and 5 Teachers of the 1st Cycle of Elementary Education, in order to know their views and representations in relation to the themes under consideration. We conclude that, in the conception of our interviewees, the images are, in fact, as motivating and facilitating elements in the process of children's learning. In this particular, we see that in both levels of teaching, is more frequent use image with the illustrative and informative function. Regarding Plastic Expression, we conclude that it is valued both by Childhood Educators and Teachers of the 1st Cycle of Elementary Education. However, in the 1st Cycle of Elementary Education its exploitation decreases as the years of schooling advance. Still as far as this area is concerned, we noticed that drawing is the most explored content and we realize that these professionals are sensitive to their analysis.
