Abstract(s)
Durante a pandemia da covid-19, muitas organizações e os respetivos colaboradores foram afetados e colocados à prova, uma vez que tiveram que se adaptar ao teletrabalho, o que poderá ter contribuído para o technostress, ou seja, o stress associado a rápidas alterações na tecnologia. Esta investigação tem como propósito compreender os níveis de technostress dos colaboradores do setor público que estiveram em regime de teletrabalho durante a pandemia, bem como as estratégias de coping utilizadas para a mitigação dos seus efeitos e o eventual impacto sobre a satisfação laboral dos mesmos. Pretende-se, ainda, aferir a influência das variáveis sociodemográficas (género, faixa etária e habilitações literárias) nas competências tecnológicas, no technostress (tecnoinvasão, tecnocomplexidade, tecnossobrecarga, tecnoincerteza e tecnoinsegurança), nas estratégias de coping (individual e organizacional) e na satisfação laboral. Para este efeito, foi realizado um questionário a 407 colaboradores do setor público das Regiões Autónomas dos Açores e Madeira, recorrendo-se a uma abordagem quantitativa para testar as relações entre as variáveis. Concluiu-se que o teletrabalho, durante a pandemia, não fez com que os colaboradores inquiridos tivessem altos níveis de technostress, como também não fez baixar os níveis de satisfação laboral. O technostress e as estratégias de coping organizacionais influenciam a satisfação laboral do colaborador. Existem diferenças significativas entre homens e mulheres, sendo que os homens tendem a reportar mais que as estratégias de “envolvimento tecnológico” têm um impacto negativo na tecnoinvasão e na tecnossobrecarga, como também a tecnoinvasão tem um impacto negativo na satisfação laboral. Quanto à idade, a estratégia de “envolvimento tecnológico” tem um impacto negativo na tecnoincerteza e na tecnoinsegurança, sendo significativamente mais forte nos inquiridos do grupo etário dos 46 aos 66 anos, enquanto no grupo dos 26 aos 45 anos a estratégia de “envolvimento tecnológico” tem um impacto positivo significativamente mais forte na satisfação laboral. Quanto às habilitações literárias, as estratégias de “não envolvimento mental” têm impacto positivo na satisfação laboral, sendo significativamente mais forte nos inquiridos com o ensino secundário ou menos.
ABSTRACT: During the pandemic of covid-19, many organizations and their employees were affected and put to the test, as they had to adapt to telework, which may have contributed to technostress, i.e., the stress associated with rapid changes in technology. This research aims to understand the levels of technostress of public sector employees who teleworked during the pandemic, as well as the coping strategies used to mitigate its effects and the possible impact on their job satisfaction. We also intend to assess the influence of the sociodemographic variables (gender, age group and academic qualifications) on technological skills, technostress (techno-invasion, techno-complexity, techno-overload, techno-insecurity and techno-uncertainty), coping strategies (individual and organizational) and job satisfaction. For this purpose, a questionnaire was conducted to 407 employees of the public sector in the Azores and Madeira. A quantitative approach was used to test the relationships between the variables. It was concluded that telecommuting, during the pandemic, did not cause the employees surveyed to have high levels of technostress, nor did it lower levels of job satisfaction. Technostress and organizational coping strategies influence employee job satisfaction. There are significant differences between men and women, with men reporting more the "technology engagement" strategies have a negative impact on techno-invasion and technostress, as well as techno-invasion has a negative impact on job satisfaction. Regarding age, the “technology engagement” strategy has a negative impact on techno-uncertainty and techno-insecurity being significantly stronger in respondents in the 46 to 66 age group, while in the 26 to 45 age group the “technology engagement” strategy has a significantly stronger positive impact on job satisfaction. As for educational qualifications, "no mental engagement" strategies have a positive impact on job satisfaction, being significantly stronger in respondents with high school education or less.
