Este trabalho de investigação aborda a preferência dos turistas e aceitabilidade dos veículos elétricos (VE) para a ilha de S. Miguel. Começa-se por apresentar as políticas governamentais para a mobilidade elétrica (ME) existente em Portugal e na Região Autónoma dos Açores (RAA), bem como os incentivos financeiros criados para a ME. Para a aceitabilidade dos VE por parte dos turistas, foi realizado uma revisão abrangente à literatura existente. No âmbito da investigação empírica, analisa-se o caso da ilha de São Miguel, através da recolha da informação que resulta dos inquéritos realizados aos turistas que alugaram uma viatura durante a estada em São Miguel, tendo-se constatado que a maioria dos turistas que nos visitam, têm preocupações ambientais e de que os Açores são um destino ideal para a utilização de VE.
ABSTRACT: This work examines the preference and acceptability of electric vehicles (EV) by visitors of São Miguel Island. The study begins by presenting the electric mobility (EM) policies existing in Portugal and in the Autonomous Region of the Azores (RAA), as well as the financial incentives created for that purpose. For the acceptability of EVs, a comprehensive review of the existing literature was performed. For empirical purposes, the case of the São Miguel Island is analyzed, through the collection of information resulting from surveys carried out on tourists who rented a car during their stay in this island. The results indicate that most of the visitors have environmental concerns and consider the Azores as an ideal destination for EV use.
