| dc.description.abstract | A sociedade portuguesa tem assistido nas últimas décadas a transformações no domínio socioeconómico que se refletem no mundo laboral. O caso do trabalho doméstico é exemplo disso. Apesar de a profissão ser uma persistência estrutural do antigo regime, o reflexo de uma nova economia dos serviços e da globalização dotaram o trabalho doméstico de novas particularidades. Desta forma, pretendeu-se averiguar em que medida as particularidades do trabalho doméstico estão associadas à precariedade laboral. Para tal, a base teórica compreendeu a utilização dos contributos de Bridget Anderson, Sónia Rubio e Vanessa Blétière no que respeita à noção de trabalho doméstico e de Fernando Diogo, Sara Casaca e Glória Rebelo relativamente à pluralidade do conceito de precariedade laboral, complementando as referências com dados estatísticos. No entanto, o carácter singular e informal do trabalho doméstico traduz-se, numa dificuldade em obter-se dados estatísticos que exprimem com exatidão a realidade desta atividade. Delineado numa abordagem qualitativa, o presente estudo tem por base a aplicação de entrevistas a empregadas domésticas residentes na ilha de São Miguel - Açores. Através da amostra em bola de neve e considerando a investigação um estudo de caso realizaram-se quinze entrevistas. Os resultados demonstram que, e de acordo com o que a literatura tem vindo a defender, as empregadas domésticas apresentam em geral baixas qualificações escolares, proveem de classes sociais desfavorecidas e encaram a sua profissão como uma atividade de recurso. O trabalho doméstico ao desenvolver na esfera privada, torna-se de certa forma, invisível para o resto da sociedade. Por um lado, o trabalho ao desenvolver-se no domicílio privado, não facilita a existência de uma relação meramente laboral. Os laços de afeto que se criam acabam por dar espaço a uma relação laboral baseada na confiança e afetividade, em vez de uma alicerçada na regulação jurídica. Por outro lado, o carácter de invisibilidade do trabalho doméstico dificulta a própria conceção e reconhecimento social e legal da profissão. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | ABSTRACT: Portuguese society has witnessed in recent decades changes in the socio-economic al field that have a reflection in the working world. Domestic work is an example of that. Although that profession is a structural persistence of the old regime, the reflection of a new economy of services and globalization has endowed the domestic work of new features. Thus, we sought to determine to what extent the characteristics of domestic work are associated with precariousness in employment. To this end, the theoretical basis included the use of contributions from Bridget Anderson, Sonia Rubio and Vanessa Blétière regarding the notion of domestic work and from Fernando Diogo, Sara Casaca and Glória Rebelo as for as the plurality of the concept of precariousness in employment is concerned, complementing references with statistical data. However, the unique and informal nature of domestic work translates itself in a difficulty to obtain statistical data that accurately express the reality of this activity. Outlined in a qualitative approach, this study is based on interviews made to domestic workers employed in the island of São Miguel - Azores. Through the snowball sample and considering the investigation a case study, fifteen interviews were carried out. According to what literature has been defending, results show that domestic workers generally have low educational qualifications, come from underprivileged social classes and view their profession as a resource activity. Outlined in a qualitative approach, this study is based on interviews made to domestic workers employed in the island of São Miguel - Azores. Domestic work tor being developed in the private sphere it is somehow invisible to the rest of society. On one hand, tor being developed in a private home, the work does not facilitate the existence of a mere professional relationship. The bonds of affection that are created end up giving space to a professional relationship based on trust and affection, instead of one grounded in legal regulation. On the other hand, domestic work invisibility makes its design difficult t as well as the social and legal recognition of the profession. | en |
