Abstract(s)
A nossa proposta parte de três imagens oferecidas pelo filósofo francês Henri Bergson para se referir à filosofia. No âmbito da crítica às tradições filosóficas anteriores, seguiremos os movimentos desenhados nesses três momentos enquanto emissários de diferentes lugares da esperança: no modo de habitar o mundo, na relação da filosofia consigo mesma e também na relação da filosofia com o seu ensino. Passaremos brevemente pelas conceções bergsonianas sobre a imagem enquanto sugestão de sentidos que permanentemente renovam distintos modos de pensar e de dizer. Mais do que um momento frívolo de uma filosofia que esterilmente se vê ao espelho, procuraremos sugerir pensamento sobre por que motivos o encontro da filosofia consigo mesma através da imagem poderá abrir caminhos para pensar o seu ensino. Poderá a própria filosofia, como uma imagem, transformar-se em movimento de sugestão, em vez de simples representação? Residirá aí a esperança de um mundo em que haja ainda lugar para a novidade e para a imprevisibilidade? E que lugar concedemos à novidade e à imprevisibilidade na nossa relação com a filosofia através do seu ensino?
ABSTRACT: Our argument is based upon three images provided by the French philosopher Henri Bergson to refer to philosophy. In the context of critiques of earlier philosophical traditions, we will examine the movements that developed on those these three moments as emissaries of different places of hope: in the way people inhabit the world, in philosophy’s relationship with itself, and in philosophy’s relationship with its teaching. We will quickly review Bergson’s conception of the image as a suggestion of meanings that constantly renew distinct ways of thinking and saying. Our argument does not constitute a superficial exercise in sterile, navel-gazing philosophy, but rather an attempt to urge reflection about how philosophy’s encounter with itself can open new avenues to think about its teaching. Can philosophy itself, as an image, transform itself into a movement of suggestion, instead of simple representation? Might the hope of a world where there is still space for novelty and unpredictability lie therein? And what space should we provide for novelty and unpredictability in our relationship with philosophy as we teach it?
