Uma boa gestão/organização de todo o sistema de cruzeiros ajuda na comercialização adequada do destino e no desenvolvimento apropriado das infraestruturas dos portos, criando um ambiente funcional para o turista, e influenciando assim positivamente a atratividade do destino (Gračan, 2016). Os navios de cruzeiro são muito semelhantes entre si no que toca ao entretenimento, criando mais e mais atividades a bordo, lojas e outros serviços de qualidade, bem como a venda de produtos e serviços em terra. Resumindo, é consideravelmente mais caro, comprar produtos e serviços a bordo do que quando comprado fora do navio (Clancy, 2017). Portanto, este estudo foca o papel dos operadores turísticos na atividade de cruzeiros na Ilha de São Miguel, a fim de compreender a sua adaptação comercial para esse tipo de turismo em expansão no arquipélago, bem como discutir a vantagem da criação de um Gabinete Comercial para concentrar todas as ofertas de todos os operadores turísticos no porto de cruzeiros de Ponta Delgada.
ABSTRACT: A good management/organization of the entire cruise system, which helps in adequate marketing of the destination and proper development of the ports’ infrastructure, would result in a functional environment for the tourist, these measures would positively influence the attractiveness of the destination (Gračan, 2016). As far as entertainment is concerned, cruise ships are very similar to each other, creating more and more on-board activities, shopping and other quality services, as well as the sale of products and services on land. These can be all summarized in one common factor: being considerably more expensive on-board than when purchased off the ship (Clancy, 2017). Therefore, this study focuses on the role of tour operators of large nautical cruises in activity on São Miguel Island, in order to understand their commercial adaptation to the type of tourism expanding in the archipelago, as well as discusses the advantage of the existence of a Commercial Office to concentrate all the offers of all tour operators in Ponta Delgada’s port.
