Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT: This Internship Report, titled "Programming and Robotics for the Promotion of Computational Thinking," was prepared as part of the conclusion of the pedagogical practice internships carried out in the Curricular Units of Teaching Internship in Informatics I, II, III, and IV, for the Master’s Degree in Teaching Informatics, taught at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the University of the Azores. The document presents the work developed over the four semesters of the program, during the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 academic years, highlighting the application of innovative methodologies and the use of diverse didactic resources focused on programming and robotics to promote Computational Thinking among students. The implemented methodology was divided into two main areas: pedagogical intervention and research. In the intervention, following a qualitative approach, tools such as a journal, audiovisual records, document analysis, and an analysis of internship outputs were used, along with reflections, with participant observation as the initial procedure. For the research, an online questionnaire was applied to educators and teachers from Preschool, Basic, and Secondary Education, aiming to evaluate their perceptions of the use of programming and robotics in the educational context. In terms of results, in the intervention component, the activities focused on developing essential skills for problem-solving and enhancing students' technological abilities, concluding that these approaches significantly favor the development of Computational Thinking, encouraging students to apply logic and creativity in problem-solving. In the research component, the questionnaire results indicate that educators and teachers consider programming and robotics essential tools for stimulating Computational Thinking, also promoting critical thinking and student autonomy. However, they emphasize the importance of ongoing training to strengthen its integration and effectiveness in the educational context. In summary, the experiences gained and the pedagogical practices implemented aimed to contribute to the trainee’s preparation in the area of Informatics teaching, equipping her to integrate Computational Thinking in an innovative and effective way within the teaching process.
