Com esta dissertação de mestrado pretende-se levar a cabo uma experiência de tradução literária e desenvolver uma reflexão sobre o ato de traduzir. Queremos questionar o que se traduz, por que se traduz e como se traduz, defendendo uma prática tradutiva ética e dialogante. Fundamentaremos a nossa análise em alguns dos autores mais relevantes no campo dos Estudos de Tradução. Acreditamos que a tradução participa de um processo através do qual se deve promover a diversidade cultural e linguística, dando maior visibilidade às literaturas periféricas. Escolhemos, pois, uma obra de um autor açoriano, Álamo Oliveira, cujos romances não estão traduzidos ainda em Francês. A sua voz única caracteriza-se por uma escrita mordaz enraizada nos condicionalismos insulares. Burra preta com uma lágrima constitui a efabulação do modo como foram vividos nos Açores acontecimentos marcantes na história portuguesa contemporânea. Por tudo isso, a sua tradução representa um desafio e a sua divulgação suscita-nos um interesse acrescido.
ABSTRACT: With this Masters dissertation we intend to carry out a literary translation experience and develop a reflection on the act of translating. We want to question what is translated, why it is translated and how it is translated, defending an ethical and dialogic translation practice. We will base our analysis on some of the most relevant authors in the field of Translation Studies. We believe translation is part of a process by which one should promote cultural and linguist diversity, showcasing peripheral literature. We chose, therefore, a work by an Azorean author, Álamo Oliveira, whose novels are not yet translated into French. His unique voice is characterized by a biting writing rooted in island constraints. Burra Preta com uma lágrima is the parable of how the Azores have experienced important events in contemporary Portuguese history. For all this, its translation represents a challenge and its dissemination provokes an increased interest.
