ABSTRACT: The determinants of job satisfaction have become a subject of great interest among researchers. The concept of job satisfaction, in general, is an affective response to a job, which comes from comparing actual results with expectations by the worker. The feelings reported by workers regarding their job can convey useful information on how to manage individual behavior. As consequences of job satisfaction, we have changes in productivity, commitment, turnover, absenteeism, organizational citizenship behaviors, and the physical and psychological well-being of workers. This work evaluates the relationship between job satisfaction and the worker's age by comparing 36 countries. Data from the International Social Survey Program (ISSP) were analyzed and it was found that the most evident relationship between satisfaction with the job and the age of the worker has a linear and positive form, that is, satisfaction increases as the age of the worker increases. However, for most of the counties examined there is no statistically significant relation between these two variables.
