Turismo Cultural nos Açores : determinantes e motivações do turista e a perspetiva dos locais e stakeholders

| dc.description.abstract | O Turismo Cultural, não obstante, a sua importância mundial, demonstra-se muito menos desenvolvido nos Açores, comparativamente a outros segmentos do mercado turístico. Todavia, o arquipélago possui dois locais que são Património Cultural da Humanidade, além do facto de que os turistas estrangeiros representarem uma grande percentagem do número de visitantes nos museus dos Açores. Dada toda esta dinâmica do Turismo Cultural, nesta dissertação de mestrado estudou-se a perspetiva da população local e dos stakeholders dos Açores sobre o Turismo Cultural na região, assim como definiu-se o perfil do turista cultural que visita os Açores. O estudo indica que o turista cultural nos Açores detém uma média de 38 anos, maioritariamente do género feminino, com habilitações ao nível do ensino universitário, empregado por conta de outrem, de nacionalidade portuguesa e, tendencionalmente, que, já visitou o arquipélago, escolhendo os Açores com base na recomendação de familiares e amigos. De indicar, ainda, que preparam a viagem em menos de 3 meses, viajando por motivo de lazer, sendo a natureza e as paisagens a principal motivação, reservando a viagem pelos sites das companhias aéreas e de alojamento e viajando em voos tradicionais e low cost. Além disso, tendencialmente preferem os hotéis em matéria de alojamento, viajando acompanhados, na maioria das vezes pelo esposo(a)/companheiro(a). Este turista fica no arquipélago por uma média de 9,7 dias, visita essencialmente os jardins, os locais históricos, os edifícios históricos e monumentos, assim como as igrejas e outros edifícios religiosos, e para este turista, o elemento cultural açoriano com maior potencial turístico é a gastronomia. Os turistas culturais nos Açores são predominantemente dos tipos serendipitious cultural tourist e incidental cultural tourist. Para o estudo empírico, recorreu-se a uma análise de regressão binária, de forma a definir que caraterísticas sociodemográficas e económicas dos turistas são determinantes na visita a determinadas atrações culturais. Conseguiu-se determinar que caraterísticas como o género, a idade, a nacionalidade, uma experiência turística anterior na região, as habilitações académicas, o alojamento utilizado e o acompanhamento, determinam as visitas aos museus e às igrejas e outros imóveis religiosos. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | ABSTRACT: Cultural Tourism, despite its global importance, proves to be much less developed in the Azores, compared to other segments of the tourist market. However, the archipelago has two sites that are World Cultural Heritage, in addition to the fact that foreign tourists represent a large percentage of the number of visitors to the Azores’ museums. Given all this cultural tourism dynamic, this master's dissertation studied the perspective of the local population and stakeholders of the Azores on Cultural Tourism in the region, as well as defining the profile of the cultural tourist who visits the Azores. The study indicates that the cultural tourist in the Azores has an average of 38 years old, mostly female, has university education, is employed, of Portuguese nationality, tending to have visited the archipelago, and chooses the Azores based on the recommendation of family and friends. It should also be noted that they prepare the trip in less than 3 months, traveling for leisure, with nature and landscapes being the main motivation, booking the trip through the websites of airlines and accommodation and traveling on traditional and low cost flights. Furthermore, they tend to prefer hotels in terms of accommodation, traveling accompanied, most often by their spouse/partner. This tourist stays in the archipelago for an average of 9.7 days, visiting essentially the gardens, historical sites, historical buildings and monuments, as well as churches and other religious buildings, and for this tourist, the Azorean cultural element with the greatest tourist potential is the gastronomy. Cultural tourists in the Azores are predominantly serendipitous cultural tourists and incidental cultural tourists. For the empirical study, a binary regression analysis was used, in order to define which sociodemographic and economic characteristics of tourists are decisive in visiting certain cultural dates. It was possible to determine which characteristics such as gender, age, nationality, previous tourist experience in the region, the academic qualifications, accommodation used and the people who travel with them, determine visits to museums and churches and other religious buildings. | en |
