Abstract(s)
Referimos o mandato atormentado, a agitação política e o isolamento que rodeou Manuel de Arriaga como primeiro presidente da república em Portugal e interrogamo-nos pelas motivações que teriam animado o velho presidente a não se deixar vencer pelas vicissitudes das crises que as suas iniciativas não eram capazes de apaziguar.
ABSTRACT: We refer to the tormented mandate, the political turmoil and the isolation that surrounded Manuel de Arriaga as first president of the portuguese repubic and we wonder about the motivations that would have encouraged the old presidente not to let himself be defeated by the vicissitudes of the crises that his iniciatives were unable to appease.
