dc.description.abstractNa ilha de São Miguel, a partir da 2.ª metade do século XIX, assiste-se ao incremento de espaços culturais. O Teatro Micaelense, o Teatro Ribeiragrandense e o Cine Teatro Lagoense Francisco d’Amaral Almeida, os teatros das três cidades micaelenses, Ponta Delgada, Ribeira Grande e Lagoa respetivamente, surgem em épocas diferentes, tendo o primeiro sido construído no século XIX e os outros dois no raiar da República. No entanto, nascem com o mesmo objetivo: dinamizar a vida cultural e artística. Com o passar dos anos, fizeram história e a sua atividade cultural foi sendo alterada, devido às necessidades que iam surgindo. A missão, as modalidades de gestão, as formas de ligação com a comunidade, a oferta de atividades culturais destes espaços, várias vezes remodelados, sofreram alterações como consequência das mudanças sociais e políticas ocorridas em mais de um século. A existência destes teatros veio permitir o aumento da formação cultural e cívica das populações dos locais onde nasceram, bem como uma maior preocupação relativamente ao património local. Esta dissertação revisita a história e as memórias destes três teatros com o propósito de conhecer e identificar a oferta cultural ao articular esta com a evolução da sociedade micaelense. Tomando como ponto de partir a história de cada teatro, vai ser possível observar o seu desenvolvimento, não só a nível cultural, mas também económico e social.pt_PT
dc.description.abstractABSTRACT: In the island of São Miguel, from the second half of the 19th century, there is an increase of cultural spaces. The Teatro Micaelense, the Teatro Ribeiragrandense and the Cine Teatro Lagoense Francisco d'Amaral Almeida, the theaters of the three micaelenses cities, Ponta Delgada, Ribeira Grande and Lagoa respectively, emerge at different times, the first being built in the 19th century and the others two in the dawn of the Republic. However, with the same goal: to stimulate cultural and artistic life. Over the years, they made history and their cultural activity was changed, due to the needs that were emerging. The mission, management modalities, ways of connecting with the community, and the provision of cultural activities in these spaces that have been remodeled have undergone changes as a consequence of the social and political changes that have occurred in more than a century. The existence of these theaters allowed increasing the cultural and civic formation of the populations of the places where they were born, as well as a greater preoccupation with the local patrimony. This dissertation revisits the history and the memories of these three theaters with the purpose of knowing and identifying the cultural offer in articulating this with the evolution of the micaelense society. Taking as a point of departure the history of each theater it will be possible to observe its development, not only in cultural but also economic and social.en
