Através desta dissertação de mestrado procura-se conhecer melhor o universo dos Estudos de Tradução ao se colocar em evidência as diversas opções tomadas pelo tradutor anónimo e pelos responsáveis editoriais de Mourinho, the True Story. O estudo basear-se-á na comparação entre a versão portuguesa de José Mourinho, o vencedor: de Setúbal a Stamford Bridge, de Joel Neto, e a respetiva versão inglesa. Para além da análise comparativa dos dois textos, será feito um enquadramento teórico de questões centrais no âmbito da tradução e do tipo de texto em análise, o texto biográfico, o qual ajudará a compreender a tomada de decisão relativa aos casos práticos. Além disso, serão também objeto de atenção o respetivo enquadramento sociocultural, as abordagens editoriais e as opções tomadas em termos gráficos e de imagens, para melhor se perceber o impacto diferente das publicações.
ABSTRACT: This master’s dissertation seeks a better understanding of the field of Translation Studies by examining the various choices made by the anonymous translator and by the publishers of Mourinho, the True Story. The study is based on a comparison between the Portuguese edition, José Mourinho, o vencedor: de Setúbal a Stamford Bridge by Joel Neto, and its English counterpart. Alongside the comparative analysis of the two texts, the dissertation includes a literature review addressing key topics in translation studies and the biographical genre, which will shed light on the decision-making process in the case studies. Additionally, the dissertation will consider the broader socio-cultural context, editorial strategies, and choices regarding layout and imagery, to better understand the differing impacts of the two publications.
