ABSTRACT: This dissertation, entitled "Philosophical Conceptions of Play and the Community of Philosophical Inquiry," aims to investigate the concept of game and assess its philosophical conceptions, understanding how these are reflected in the community of philosophical inquiry. In order to contextualize this study, we begin with an analysis of four main authors, namely: Huizinga, Schiller, Nietzsche, and Gadamer, examining the way they conceive of game. We revisited their conceptions, highlighting what can contribute to philosophical practice with children. We aim to understand the contributions of these philosophical conceptions of game so that they can be used as the subject of experiments in a community of philosophical inquiry. Next, we will account for the main characteristics of the community of philosophical inquiry, discussing those that seem essential to us for initiating a connection between the category of game and the community of philosophical inquiry, perceiving the role of play within it. Similarly, it is intended to evaluate the dimension of game as a model of understanding and functioning within the community of philosophical inquiry. We will analyze the category of game to verify its importance for promoting dialogue. The contributions that the concept of game embodies, such as the inherent freedom and creativity, will also be a subject to study. Finally, the game of art is analyzed as a stimulus aimed at the development of reflective thinking, assuming philosophical reflection as an act of understanding and interpretation. Here, we highlight Gadamer's (1999) experiences in game processes as an interpellation that takes place within the community of philosophical inquiry.
