Abstract(s)
Desde o início do povoamento da ilha de São Miguel, no Arquipélago dos Açores, que a comunidade do lugar da Várzea, inicialmente, e da freguesia dos Ginetes, num momento posterior, originaram duas comunidades distintas e unidas, com cinco séculos de história e de evolução do seu património. Neste sentido, as tipologias de edificados presentes nestas comunidades, com diferentes origens e utilidades, o extenso Património Móvel, no âmbito da imaginária, o qual está pouco estudado e inventariado, e um interessante leque de tradições, diferentes entre as populações, tornam indispensável a existência de um estudo que reflita o surgimento individual de cada objeto de estudo, e a sua evolução na linha do tempo que acompanha as mudanças na sociedade. Como prossecução de uma intensa investigação académica, esta Dissertação de Mestrado procura estudar e perpetuar a existência deste Património, através de um estudo monográfico exaustivo de documentação de vária índole, bem como o registo de produção de formato audiovisual, de diversos testemunhos por parte da comunidade local e, por fim, a sua divulgação às novas gerações e à comunidade de uma forma local.
ABSTRACT: Since the beginning of the settlement of the island of São Miguel, in the Azores Archipelago, the community of the place of Várzea, initially, and the parish of Ginetes, at a later moment, have been originated two distinct and united communities, with five centuries of history and evolution of their heritage. From this perspective, the types of buildings in these communities, with different origins and usefulness, the extensive Movable Heritage, within the scope of the imaginary, which is understudied and inventoried, and an interesting range of traditions, different among the populations, require the existence of a study that reflects the individual onset of each object of study, and its evolution throughout the timeline that follows the social changes. As a result of an intense academic research, this Master's Thesis aims to perpetuate the existence of the aforementioned Heritage, through an exhaustive monographic study of different kinds of documentation, as well as the audio-visual production from various testimonies given by the local community and, finally, its promotion to the newest generations and the community, in a local way.
