Abstract(s)
Apresenta-se uma lista de 20 borboletas diurnas e nocturnas (Lepidoptera)
observadas na ilha de Santa Maria (Açores), entre 12 e 19 de Julho de 2009. Plutella
xylostella (Linnaeus) (Plutellidae) é citada pela primeira vez para a ilha. Os taxa endémicos registados são comuns a outras ilhas açorianas. Também, confirmou-se a presença na ilha das 4 espécies de libélulas (Odonata) conhecidas dos Açores: Ischnura hastata (Say), I. pumilio (Charpentier), Anax imperator Leach e Sympetrum fonscolombii (Selys). Em relação aos Himenópteros de Santa Maria, observou-se a existência de Glyptapanteles militaris
(Walsh) (Braconidae), Lisibia nana (Gravenhorst), Gelis sp. (Ichneumonidae) e
Trichomalopsis sp. (Pteromalidae), respectivamente, um parasitóide larvar e três
hiperparasitóides da “lagarta das pastagens” Pseudaletia (=Mythimna) unipuncta (Haworth)
(Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). Foram ainda observados os himenópteros parasitóides que
constituem novas citações para a ilha: Trichogramma cordubensis (Trichogrammatidae) em ovos de Lepidoptera, Trissolcus sp. (Scelionidae) em ovos de Hemiptera e Encarsia formosa e Encarsia sp.(Aphelinidae) em ninfas de Hemiptera. A existência de todos estes parasitóides é um bom indicador, considerando o seu potencial no controlo biológico de diversas pragas agrícolas da ilha.
A list of 20 butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera) observed on Santa Maria island (Azores) during July 12-19, 2009, is provided. Plutella xylostella (Linnaeus) (Plutellidae) is cited for the first time to Santa Maria. The endemic taxa recorded to the island are common to Azorean archipelago. The present contribution deals with Odonata records observed on Santa Maria: Ischnura hastata (Say), I. pumilio (Charpentier), Anax imperator Leach and Sympetrum fonscolombii (Selys). Regarding the Hymenoptera, we recorded the presence of the larval parasitoid Glyptapanteles militaris (Walsh) (Braconidae), as well, Lisibia nana (Gravenhorst), Gelis sp. (Ichneumonidae) and Trichomalopsis sp. (Pteromalidae), three hiperparasitoids of Pseudaletia (=Mythimna) unipuncta (Haworth) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). The parasitoid Trichogramma cordubensis (Trichogrammatidae) was detected in eggs of Lepidoptera, Trissolcus sp. (Scelionidae) in eggs of Hemiptera, and Encarsia formosa and Encarsia sp. (Aphelinidae) in pupae of Hemiptera. T. cordubensis, Trissolcus sp., E. formosa and Encarsia sp. are new species to this island. These parasitoid species have a high value as biological control agents of agricultural pests usually found in Santa Maria.
