Abstract(s)
Neste artigo procura-se demonstrar três coisas, primeiro, que a pobreza é um problema social central na sociedade açoriana. Segundo que não deriva do desemprego, sendo que muitos destes pobres são pobres trabalhadores. Terceiro que a sua distribuição por ilhas é muito desigual. Em ordem a analisarmos este último aspecto recorreremos aos dados do RSI. Contudo, começaremos por apresentar algumas reflexões de enquadramento em relação à problemática da pobreza, designadamente no que se refere à necessidade de desconstruir e reconstruir a noção.
ABSTRACT: This paper seeks to demonstrate three things; first, that poverty is a social problem that is central in the Azorean society. Second, that isn't significantly dependent on unemployment, many o f those in poverty are working poor. Third, that its distribution by islands is very uneven. In order to analyze the latter the RSI data are used. However, we will start by offering some thoughts about the question of poverty, in particular about the need to deconstruct and reconstruct the concept.
