Uma análise da rendibilidade do ensino superior em Portugal

Este trabalho analisa a rendibilidade do Ensino Superior em Portugal, para os trabalhadores do sector empresarial. Os resultados indicam que a obtenção de uma licenciatura pode ser um bom investimento quando comparado com a alternativa de concluir somente o Ensino Secundário. Em média os detentores de uma licenciatura auferem um vencimento que excede em cerca de 77.1% os que possuem somente Ensino Secundário. No entanto este diferencial assume uma grande dispersão por áreas de formação. Os detentores de uma licenciatura em Matemática ou Estatística são os trabalhadores mais bem remunerados pelo sector empresarial.
ABSTRACT: This work examines the returns to higher education in Portugal, for those who work in private or state owned companies. The results suggest that that being graduated (1st degree) may be a good option when compared with the one of having just secondary education. On average, university graduates earn 77.1% more than the secondary education counterparts. Nevertheless, there is a significant dispersion on that differential. Workers who graduated in Mathematics and Statistics earn the highest wages as compared with secondary education graduates.
