Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT: This Internship Report covers the work developed in the Internship Courses in Informatics Education I, II, III, and IV, which are part of the Master of Science in Informatics curriculum at the University of the Azores. The primary goal of this document is to substantiate and comprehensively analyze the pedagogical practices carried out throughout these courses, reflecting the ongoing process of training and applying the knowledge acquired in the field of Informatics Education. The report explores the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the classroom as a didactic tool to develop Computational Thinking (CT) skills in children and students, examining how these technologies foster a learning environments that help students solve problems, abstract concepts, and engage in logical reasoning, which are essential skills in CT. Additionally, a study was conducted to analyze the impact of strategies implemented by interns, with and without the use of technologies, from the perspective of cooperating teachers, focusing on the development of CT skills in children and students. The results show that the activities carried out not only promoted these skills but also positively influenced the pedagogical practices of the cooperating teachers. This impact led them to reflect on the importance of a more effective integration of ICT in the classroom. Furthermore, the data suggests that there is a need for additional training for cooperating teachers, aimed at enabling them to use ICT more consistently and structured, thereby enhancing the development of CT skills in students.
