Este estudo analisa os determinantes da escolha da companhia a aérea por parte de quem visita os açores. A teoria subjacente é a da escolha por atributos desenvolvida por Lancaster (1966). Entre os diversos atributos considerou-se a segurança, a frequência dos voos, o custo/tarifa, o serviço de bordo, o comportamento dos tripulantes e a imagem da companhia. Os resultados empíricos mostram que a valorização da importância destes atributos depende de um conjunto de fatores e características individuais. O mesmo se passa no que respeita à escolha entre companhias de baixo custo e a restantes companhias.
ABSTRACT: This study examines the determinants of the air company of choice by those visiting the Azores. The underlying theory is the choice by attributes developed by Lancaster (1966). Among the various attributes we consider safety, frequency of flights, the cost/fare, on board service, behavior of the crew and the company's image. The empirical results show that the appreciation of the importance of these attributes depends on a number of individual factors and characteristics. The same is true regarding the choice of between low cost and other companies.
