Durante a XV Expedição Científica do Departamento de Biologia à Ilha de São Jorge em 2011 recolheram-se 80 amostras de solo e água a diferentes altitudes e com diversos cobertos vegetais. Estas amostras foram transportadas para o laboratório de Entomopatologia para isolamento de bactérias entomopatogénicas. Obtivemos 400 isolados puros que foram identificados até ao grupo de Bacillus cereus, no qual se enquadra a espécie B. thuringiensis. Estes isolados estão depositados na Colecção de Entomopatógenos dos Açores (CEA) na Universidade dos Açores/Centro de Investigação do Recursos Naturais (CIRN).
ABSTRACT: During the XV Scientific Expedition of the Biology Department to the island of São Jorge in 2011 we collected 80 soil samples and water at different altitudes and with different covering plants. These samples were transported to the laboratory of Entomopathology for the isolation of entomopatogenic bacteria. We obtained 400 pure isolates that were identified as belonging to the Group of Bacillus cereus, in which fits the species B. thuringiensis. These strains are deposited in the collection of Entomopathogens of Azores (CEA) at the University of the Azores/Natural Resources Research Centre (CIRN).
