Apresenta-se uma revisão sobre as principais espécies usadas nos Açores na formação de sebes vivas:
- de protecção de fruteiras;
- de compartimentação de pastagens e outras culturas arvenses;
- com função mista de compartimentação e embelezamento em bermas de estradas e em quintais.
