Abstract(s)

The counterfeiting of notes can sometimes be associated with various types of crimes such as (robbery, assault, theft and elicit acts involving drugs) as well as, in addition to the crimes mentioned, it may also be linked to other variables. The present study analyzes data from several explanatory variables, such as PIB Per Capita, the rate of early leaving of education and training, unemployment, the risk of poverty rate, crime, the population with at least basic digital skills and finally cybercrime. Therefore, through a statistical analysis, it was concluded which variables have a strong connection with the counterfeiting of euro banknotes, both in Portugal and in the other countries of the European Union. To process and analyze data from various databases, the IBM SPSS Statistics Software (SPSS) was used. The results that emerged from this study indicate that the explanatory variables of the euro banknote counterfeiting phenomenon have a strong connection with the crime of theft and with the level of unemployment in the country. In a total analysis of the counterfeiting of the euro banknote, France is the country most affected by this phenomenon. Keywords:
