Em São Miguel pratica-se os sistemas de produção de pastoreio (SP), semi-estabulação (SME) e estabulação permanente (SEP).
Este trabalho foi realizado na Ilha de São Miguel, com dados de 30 explorações de bovinos de leite, repartido em 10 explorações para cada tipo de sistema de produção, com o objetivo de avaliar a eficiência produtiva e reprodutiva das mesmas. Para tal, foram utilizados registos de produção e de fertilidade referentes ao ano de 2016, fornecidos pela AASM e provenientes do serviço de contraste leiteiro. Relativamente aos índices produtivos recolheram-se dados sobre o número de lactações, total de dias em lactação, produção de leite aos 305 dias (Kg), percentagem do teor butiroso e proteico (%), produção de gordura e de proteína aos 305 dias (Kg), contagem das células somáticas (x1000), ureia (mg/100ml). Relativamente aos índices reprodutivos, trataram-se dados referentes ao intervalo entre partos (dias), idade ao 1º parto (meses), número de IA’s/Gestação e percentagem do sucesso à primeira inseminação (%).
Os resultados obtidos indicam que os sistemas de produção exercem um efeito significativo sobre a maioria dos índices produtivos e reprodutivos, verificou-se ainda que alguns índices avaliados neste estudo foram diferentes, quando comparados com valores objetivo considerados na bibliografia.
