Enquanto o professor Bergson se interessa pelo estudo da obra de Plotino por si mesma, o filósofo Bergson identifica o neoplatónico com a matriz de todo um corpo metafísico de saber: o pensamento antigo grego. O artigo procura evidenciar a articulação entre o professor e o filósofo, explorando o alcance das influências plotinianas na construção e na consolidação (ainda que implícita) da obra de Bergson – seja por adesão, seja por demarcação –, focando três conceitos essenciais: alma, simpatia e causalidade.Henri Bergson’s statements on Plotinus are an interesting case-study for his readers, contrasting between an avowed sympathy (in the Courses at the Collège de France) and an almost absence of references (in his writings). While Bergson-the-professor is interested in the study of Plotinus’ work for its own sake, Bergson-the-philosopher identifies the Neoplatonist with the matrix of an entire metaphysical body of knowledge: the Ancient Greek philosophy.
